Tired of being pregnant?

Read this. This article by Nathanael Johnson published today on MercuryNews.com discusses how women who elect to be induced before 39 weeks of gestation are, according to Dr. Bryan Oshiro, vice chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at Loma Linda University, "playing Russian roulette".

Note: They're not talking about women who are induced because of risks, but rather women with healthy pregnancies who choose to be induced because they are "tired of being pregnant".

Interesting article. The culture of intervention certainly seems to be different in some places than other places, that's for sure - makes you question whose approach is working better for mothers and children.

Wow, I was induced the day after my due date, and we knew exactly how far along we were considering we were pregnant via IVF. I never felt like I was doing something that could harm my baby. I was just ready to meet him, and afraid my husband would not be able to take me to the hospital.
